VANESSA MERLO KAVA
UFPR - UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO PARANA CURITIBA / PRI hold a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná (1989), a Master's degree (1993), and a Ph.D. (2004) in Genetics from the Federal University of Paraná. I completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research in Valencia, Spain, from 2011 to 2012. I have been a professor at the Federal University of Paraná since 1995, currently holding the position of Full Professor. I was Deputy Head of the Department of Genetics from 2014 to 2017 and Head of the same department from 2017 to 2020. I was a member of the Advisory Committee (Biological Sciences) of the Araucária Foundation from 2017 to 2019. I am involved in the Graduate Program in Genetics at UFPR, supervising Master's and Ph.D. students (2008 - ), and have received research productivity funding from CNPq since 2014. I was the alternate representative of the Department of Genetics to the Sectoral Research Committee (CSPq) (2020-22) and am the representative of full professors on the Planning and Administration Council (COPLAD) and University Council (COUN) (2021- ). I am a member of the Brazilian Society of Microbiology. My expertise lies in the fields of Genetics and Microbiology, with an emphasis on Genetics of Microorganisms of agricultural and biotechnological interest, particularly endophytic fungi, phytopathogenic fungi, and microalgae.
