Former coordinator of the Ecology area at CAPES/MEC and CNPq/MCTI. Member of the IPCC AR 6 expert-review panel. Vice-Coordinator of INCT-Mineral Resources, Water and Biodiversity - INCT-Acqua/UFMG. Vice-Chair of the Independent Panel of Rio Doce/IUCN. Member of the Deliberative Council of Conservation International-Brasil. Supervised 37 MSc Dissertations, 22 PhD Thesis; published 147 scientific articles científicos - H index 27). Former coordinator of Limnology ICB/UFMG. Areas of interest/contributions: water quality, primary productivity/aquatic metabolism, biorremediation, water and biodiversity in mining areas, ecology and conservation of aquatic ecosystems.  Former Vice-Chair of the Rio Doce Independent Panel/IUCN.
