SYLVIA BONILLA
UDELAR, URUGUAY - FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS UNIVERSIDAD DE LA REPUBLICAProfessor at the Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de la República, Uruguay. She earned her PhD (Biology) from the Universidad de la República and she did a postdoc at Université Laval (Canada). Her research seeks to better understand the processes involved in the dispersion and colonization of toxic cyanobacteria, their ecological success, and factors that affect their production of toxins, which ultimately impact on recreational and drinking water supplies. She uses a combination of laboratory and field-based research to address these questions.
