SOLOMON MELAKU BIRHANU
ADDIS ABABA UNIVERSITY - ADDIS ABABA UNIVERSITYSolomon Melaku, a PhD student at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia In aquatic sciences, fisheries, and aquaculture. Conducted MSc study at Ghent Univerity, Laboratory of Aquaculture and Artemia Reference Center from 2010-2012. My research areas are mainly geared towards live feed culture practices for larval fish culture such as microalgae and rotifers. During my MSc study, I worked on the applications of prebiotics and probiotics in Brachionus plicatilis cayman culture with Prof. Dr.ir Peter Bossier. Currently, I am conducting my PhD research on applications of live feeds and prebiotics in African catfish larviculture. In the future, I aspire to work on the limnological aspects of aquaculture systems for better fish production and minimal environmental impacts.
